Our First Aid Week!

Our First Aid Week!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed your Easter Holidays!

We had a fantastic time taking part in the Colour Run for our class charity Millie’s Trust. Thanks again for your massive support and generosity!

Here we are in the Bury Times: Bury Times Summerseat Colour Run Article

We have kicked off our first week back with a First Aid week! We have learnt all about how to Dial 999, how to treat cuts, grazes and burns, how and when to put someone in the Recovery Position and how to help someone who is choking.

We are finishing off the week by writing a Non-Fiction report to send to Millie’s Trust with our Sponsor Money so they know about all of our hard work learning First Aid.

Here are some pictures of us in action this week… can you guess which part we are working on by the pictures?

Inuit Art

Inuit Art

Hi Everyone!

As part of our Arctic topic we have been looking at Inuit Art!

We looked at a famous print called ‘Enchanted Owl’  by Kenojuak Ashevak.

Inuits have a special design process involving a series of printing using different colours.

We then designed our own print by researching different Inuit designs and made it using string and cardboard.

Today we printed them in different colours – they sure have brightened up our classroom!

Here we are in the process:

Potions Class!

Potions Class!

Hi Everyone!

This week we had a Professor Snape inspired Potions class where we had to measure out our own potions!

We started off the week by following Miss Breckon’s potion, then planned our own and finally we made them.

Here are some pictures of us in the making process!

How does a Polar Bear stay warm in the Arctic?

How does a Polar Bear stay warm in the Arctic?

Hi Everyone!

We have recently started our new topic ‘Posting and Places’. Part of this is comparing cold and warmer places in the world – we have started off talking about the Arctic! This week we decided we would think about what Arctic animals have to help them keep warm in the freezing temperatures. We have designed a glove with different layers of insulation (including lard!) and very bravely tested it out in icy water to see if it made our hand warmer!

Here are some of us in the process:

So, if you see us wrapping up warm for these colder months then you know why!

See You Soon!

Gingerbread Houses

Gingerbread Houses

Hi Everyone!

Well today was a little bit like the apprentice as we all split into teams to see who could work together to make a successful gingerbread house!

At some point, all of our Gingerbread Houses were fully constructed – it was just keeping them that way which was tricky!

We all worked well in a team and managed to find time to taste our results too!

Here are some pictures of us in construction:

IMG_1568 IMG_1569 IMG_1570 IMG_1571 IMG_1572 IMG_1573 IMG_1574 IMG_1575 IMG_1576 IMG_1578 IMG_1579 IMG_1580 IMG_1581 IMG_1582 IMG_1583 IMG_1584 IMG_1585 IMG_1586 IMG_1587 IMG_1589 IMG_1590  IMG_1592 IMG_1595 IMG_1596 IMG_1597 IMG_1599 IMG_1601 IMG_1602

They sure tasted as good as they looked!

Keep checking here for more Christmas festivities!

Hi Everyone!

We spent our half term making some amazing creations for our Class Museum!

It was quite a formal affair and we spent quite some time in the hall looking at everyone’s fantastic work.

Here we are taking notes for some of our reviews:

Here are some snippets from our reviews:

” I went to the museum and it was fun! My favourite thing was the sock puppet. I really liked the teeth and the eyes. I also like the Haunted House. My favourite part was the tree. I liked the ghost it was in the window”  William H.

”I liked the football stadium because I liked the faces and the people. I like how he made it too and the goals” Eva

”The Broomstick – I like it because it looks old. I wonder how long it took to make? The model also looked interesting. It looks very brilliant!”  Elodie

”I loved the Dr Pepper because it’s realistic. I also liked the pumpkin!!”  Alfie P.

What do you think?

The mystery of the Lost Delph Treasure

The mystery of the Lost Delph Treasure

Hi Everyone!

Today we talked about the tale of the lost Delph treasure! Incase you don’t know the story this is how it goes….

Many years ago there were rumoured to be Pirates that sailed the River through Summerseat. They met in the Delph to trade some of their local produce for rare pirate gold. One of the most famous pirate trades was a giant chest of the most finest pirate gold and treasure, which Sir Grizzlebelly traded his whole ship for… only to find that the morning after his chest of treasure had completely vanished! Sir Grizzlebelly searched for many years after to find where his precious treasure has disappeared to, but it still remains a mystery. It is now known as the lost Delph treasure, and Pirates soon stopped their trading after just incase the same would happen to them!

We searched the Delph for the lost treasure and used special Maps to help us figure out which treasure was missing.

Here are some pictures of us in action:

We didn’t manage to find the lost treasure – but we sure had lots of fun!

Maths Investigation Fridays: Tessellation

Maths Investigation Fridays: Tessellation

Hi Everyone!

Last week we had a letter from Bear Yo Yo explaining that he needed new wallpaper for his cave.

He only liked shapes that could tessellate on his wallpaper so we experimented with different shapes and tested which ones could tessellate.

Here are some of our wallpapers:

I am sure he will appreciate some of our brilliant designs!

Our Celebration Paintings

Our Celebration Paintings

As part of our ‘Let’s Celebrate’ Topic we have been looking at different artist’s styles of painting and what colours and expressions they have used to show others how they were feeling.

We designed and painted our own celebration using a varitey of different colours and brush strokes.

Here we are in the making:

Our paintings looked amazing and we really tried our best to experiment with making new colours.

See you all soon!
